Born in China before spending 15 years in the UK on my postgraduate degrees and co-founding a successful 5G fabless company, I returned to my home country in 2024 and am currently an Adjunct Research Supervisor at Zhejiang University (ZJU) and a Principal Investigator (Technology) at Zhejiang University-Hangzhou Global Scientific and Technological Innovation Centre (ZJU-HIC), in the beautiful city of Hangzhou on the east coast of China.

💭 Some Thoughts
- April 2024
- After spending 15 years in the UK (with a few being an expat in China), I left the 5G fabless company I co-founded and have returned to China to do something I believe will do great to the society. Most people think it’s not a great idea, as part of the academia in China, pay’s low, work-life balance isn’t secure, etc. That’s the old thinking. Self-interests and geopolitics aside, on a world stage China has become a fertile ground for innovations. It’s a knowledge transfer hotbed, and commercialisation and entrepreneurship are highly encouraged. China is on the right track to become an innovation superpower, and that’s the wave you can’t miss.
💪🏻 Interested in Joining?
- I am actively recruiting truly self-driven, highly-talented engineers from academia and industry and also commercial veterans from industry, to embark on a journey to make significant impacts on the wireless comms markets, both nationally in China and internationally.
- The plan is to originate really fundamental algorithmic and chip design innovations from ZJU, transfer them to a Science Spin-out company, build a really capable engineering team and turn these into products.

- We offer Post-Doctoral positions to join me at ZJU-HIC (浙江大学杭州国际科创中心) to work on baseband processing, both algorithms and chip designs.
- You will enjoy subsidies from local governments, including rents, house buying, etc, and further subsidies if you stay after this 2-year project.
